New Year (Art) Journaling Ideas

Hello and happy new year to old and new readers; I hope 2024 has been treating you well! After a few weeks off for the holidays, it took some time for me to re-settle into familiar routines, including my art journaling practice. Thankfully, the rainy, cold weather this season has been perfect for that.

A lot of people start off the new year with the intention of either starting a journal or committing to regular journaling. But have you thought about art journaling? It’s so much fun illustrating your thoughts, feelings and ideas or the events that took place during the week. I’ve used everything from magazines, to stickers to a Trader Joe’s “winter edition” paper bag.

I’d like to share some of my past and previous pages as inspiration (hopefully), for your own journaling pages this year and beyond.

If you’re struggling to start, engage in a little self-reflection. Did you hear, see, watch or read anything that made an impression on you? Are you going through a season that’s teaching you a lot of lessons? Is there a verse, quote, or a word that keeps coming to mind? Are you entering or exiting an “era”?

Or maybe you just want to make aesthetic looking pages. That’s fine too!

How about a theme for 2024?

I really hope this blog post inspired you with a few ideas for your own art journal.
I’ll leave you with a Youtube video I released a while ago where I share the process of making one of my journal pages. Enjoy!
